Grieving Roe v. Wade

The Kübler-Ross model (five stages of grief) and the fall of Roe v. Wade.
How I am managing my grief…
Denial:
- As of June 27, it may be fair to say that this stage has ceded
- However, many of us still find ourselves denying that the Supreme Court could so vehemently oppose the separation of church and state as enumerated in the First Amendment
Anger:
- Working to get anti-choice legislators out of office (see also, Ron Johnson)
- Mobilizing my friends and family to vote
- NARAL Endorsements, EMILY’S List Endorsements
- Volunteering to protect reproductive rights
Bargaining:
- List of large companies covering employee travel costs for abortions
- Helping to educate myself and others on the facts
Depression and Acceptance:
- Our refusal to accept any outright ban allows us to never succumb to the norm. While we all wish the fight had been over in the twentieth-century, the current unfavorable outcome is no excuse to limit one’s own political participation.
